Limosa notification: what’s new?

Foreign workers and self-employed persons coming to Belgium to complete a temporary project must be registered with the Belgian authorities before they can carry out their activities in Belgium. This prior ‘Limosa notification’ can be done digitally using a web application (www.limosa.be).

The NSSO regularly improves the Limosa application. We have therefore summarised the most important changes implemented in the recent update.

“Belgian customer” search function

Previously, there were two ways of searching for a Belgian customer, namely via the CBE number or through “other search criteria” such as name, postcode and Belgian identification number. Now the search based on the CBE number is the default way. The other method is still possible, but requires an extra step.

Multiple places of employment

Earlier, one could specify a maximum of 5 places of employment per notification. This number has now been increased to 20 places.

Verification of the foreign identification number

Previously, the format of the foreign number was not validated when searching for an employee or self-employed person through identification data. Now this can be done for the identification numbers known per country. To this end, the NSSO receives lists containing the countries along with the identification numbers per country. However not all identification numbers and not all countries are on these lists. Therefore, only the known numbers get validated.

More functionalities

In the past, it was possible to change the end date of a Limosa declaration via the “Manage notifications” option. This option remains, but now it is also possible to:

  • add additional places of employment during the validity period of the current notification.
  • extend a notification stating multiple places of employment.

This can be done through a new notification that takes over all the details of your current notification, where you can change the end date and/or places of employment.

Our experts will be happy to assist you if you have any questions concerning Limosa.
