BELGIUM – ANNOUNCED SOCIAL INSPECTIONS – MEAT SECTOR – DECEMBER 2023

During the month of December 2023, the social inspection services will organise national announced social inspections in the meat sector. This includes companies active in the food industry for meat preparations and meat products, fat melters, intestine retailers, slaughterhouses and workhouses for carving meat, etc. (JC 118.111, 118.112, 118.113, 118.114, 118.115, …).

These announced inspections are mainly of an informative and preventive nature, but sanctions will follow in case of serious or repeated violations. It is therefore best to be prepared.

They inspect the correct application of social legislation including: work regulations, employment contracts, temporary work contracts, work accident insurance, Dimona declaration, proof of daily electronic attendance registration, false self-employment, …

Please note: the regular, unannounced inspections by various inspectorates will nevertheless continue.
