Limosa notification for the self-employed: limited to high-risk sectors as from January 2019

The prior notification obligation imposed on foreign self-employed persons posted to Belgium, the Limosa notification, has been limited to a number of risk sectors.

By the Act of 16 November 2015, the general Limosa notification obligation for self-employed persons was transformed into a notification obligation for certain risk sectors listed exhaustively in a judgment of the Court of Justice. In order for this change to have effect, the high-risk sectors still had to be determined by Royal Decree.

By the Royal Decree of 21 December 2018, the following risk sectors were finally established:

  • construction activities
  • activities in the meat sector
  • cleaning activities.

The new regulation entered into force on 1 January 2019.
